Say it, Do it! {off schedule & that’s okay!}

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}

When my husband saw this photo on Facebook he called me over to say “this is you.” And he was right. It is completely definitive of who I am though it may not appear that way at first glance. I often follow the rules (mostly because of my religious, rule following, conservative background), but I don’t always believe that there are actual “rules.”

I digress.

I’ve spent most of the day working on a new website/project that I’ll be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks. When I wasn’t working I was thinking about nothing other than training for this marathon.

Yesterday’s long run proved that a lack of sleep can hinder a planned 20-miler, but it also showed me how much I’ve grown in the past few years. I completed 16 miles, and yet didn’t feel one ounce of defeat. I knew I had done all that I could do yesterday and did the smart thing by calling it when I needed to.

Additionally, I didn’t exactly follow my training plan this week as something work related got in the way and I still don’t feel defeated or disappointing that something else was more important.

At one point in my life I would have let that run ruin an entire 18-week training plan. Now, I realize I’m lucky to be able to run.

I’m still on track. It will still be a struggle to meet my goal. I’m still going to work for it as there are only 61 days until race day!

Say it, Do it!

  • 4 quality runs (1 speed, 1 tempo,1- 20 miler, 1 medium long run)
  • 1 spin
  • 3 core/strength session
  • 1 solo yoga practice

Are you a rule follower?

What workouts are you committed to this week?

I guess I am like you in that I don’t really feel there are “rules.” I tend to do my own thing, which may or may not be in line with the “rules.” It works for me.

So I am curious about your solo yoga practice. Is it guided or do you kind of make it up as you go?

Monday – be fat and lazy, check
    Tuesday – speedwork
Wednesday – beach yoga (it is the last week for beach yoga! ack!)
    Thursday – hills
    Friday – beach yoga
    Saturday – 11 miles
    Sunday – beach yoga

I was fat and lazy today too!

As for my solo yoga practice, I generally do the same stuff each time according to my hamstring’s demands. But yes, I make it up as I go and do whatever I feel like I need.

Yup, pretty much a rule follower. Of course, I’m clever about doing whatever I want to do while still following the letter of the law. ;)

Here’s to the saying, “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.”

How are you? Hope all is well with training and life. I’m back to blog reading (as of today). I read somewhere that for Virgos (that’s me) they may look as though they have all their ducks in a row but usually there is a messy closet somewhere. So I think that’s me, I like things perfect but that’s rough to keep up with. When I invest in a rule, I follow but I can also decide I don’t care just as easily. So a combo.

I am a rule follower and often find that I force myself to complete goals that I have set for myself. But for this race I am being more flexible and have taken a few short run training days when I was not feeling upto it.
    This week:
    Mon: 8 miles run-done
    Tue: 4 mile run
    Wed: Physique 57
    Thur: 17 mile run
    Fri: Off
    Sat: Physique 57
    Sun: Physique 57

Make plans, and then life gets in the way:)

Glad you are making the best of it – still look great training.

I cannot wait to hear what you are up to?!?!
