Live Young, Get Fit with evian & Jackie Warner Event

June is turning out to be an action-packed month! In the past week alone I’ve attended an event with Scott Jurek (ultra runner) and Christopher McDougall (author of Born to Run), celebrated National Running Day while coaching the Lululemon Run Club, ran a 10k, was inspired by several hundred 8-10 year-olds, and worked out with Jackie Warner at evian’s Live Young, Get Fit event.

The workout took place at Beekman’s Beer Garden over looking the Brooklyn Bridge.

I’m always interested in seeing what celebrity trainers are like in real life. Jackie was down to earth, friendly and motivating. The interval styled workout was primarily strength based, but also included plyometerics and mountain climbers to keep our heart rate up.

The two biggest challenges I faced during the workout were the sand and the fact that I had just ran a tough 10k. After I got use to the way the sand felt on my skin, the extra challenge was quite fun!

When the one-hour workout was complete, Jackie stuck around for a Q&A.

During the session she admitted that she recently found herself in a workout rut, so she made a 30 day workout plan for herself. When she’s lacking in motivation or needs to mix it up she sets a new goal for herself (like a doing a three minute plank). She also said to she changes her workout playlist often to keep things fresh in the gym.

One of my favorite moments of the day was when she mentioned how much she loves NYC pizza. Pizza, she says is her “cheat food”.
