Words to Live By {Giveaway}
When you need to dig deep, stay focused or encourage someone with a phrase or word what’s your go-to phrase?
It’s weird to say this, but my current mantra is actually 26.2 or the words “New York City Marathon”. When I don’t want to workout or want to stuff face with cupcakes, I think of those numbers or words (although, sometimes the cupcake still wins). On Sunday when my ego screams out or my legs get tired, I’ll focus on counting (read about that here) and repeat my mantra.
Today is an extra special day here on FCITC because you have the chance to enter to win a beautiful Custom Mantra Necklace from Erica Sara Designs. (go check out her stuff now!)
The winner will receive a sterling silver or gold filled rectangle charm engraved with their custom mantra in the font of their choice, on a cable chain.
Erica is amazingly talented and someone I’m certainly lucky to have as a good friend, thanks to social media.
Here’s how you can win a Custom Mantra Necklace:
#1) Mandatory entry: Leave a comment here telling me what mantra you would have engraved if you win the necklace.
#2) Bonus: Like Erica Sara Designs on Facebook, then leave a comment telling me you did so.
You have until the More/Fitness Magazine 1/2 Marathon race eve (April 14th) to enter the giveaway. The winner will be announced here on Sunday, April 15th
*** This giveaway has ended.
The winner is:
Bernadette Chan! Congratulations!

my mantra would be: yesterday you said tomorrow.
My mantra would be “Be Strong, Believe.”
Thanks for hosting!
Such pressure. I’m not sure what mantra I would choose. Maybe happiness?
My mantra would be: No limits.
Thanks!

My mantra would be: Summon the Will to Fight.
I really like No Limits too!
I liked them on facebook too
I have been a HUGE fan of Erica Sara Designs (and yours) for quite some time now. I am torn between which mantra I would choose. I originally thought it would be “Don’t think, just run!” This one got me through the BEST 12 mile run of my life. But I can’t help but gravitate towards a Monday Mantra Erica once blogged about on her blog. In hebrew, “Im Ein Ani Li Mi Li?”. In English, “If I am not for myself, who will be for me?” This is something that has helped make me so much stronger in 2012 and continues to make me face fear head on, be my own person and not be afraid of anything anymore. It makes me believe in myself and has resonated with me since I read it back in January. I think it’s great that you are giving away a necklace from such a talented artist. After I finished the NYC Half, my 1st half marathon, it was the first thing I wanted. Best of luck on Sunday. Can’t wait to get out there and cheer you on!!!
This comments means a lot… thank you so much Beth! And I’m not sure I realized the NYC Half was your 1st- congrats!!!
I liked her (and you) on Facebook a LONG time ago
“Think Fierce Be Bold” and on days when I’m in pain from my RA it’s “Screw Arthur”.
I did like her page as well. Hope I win!!!
So many mantras…either: You’re Gonna Fly…or Be Strong
Just liked her Facebook page too…awesome stuff!
faith and focus
My mantra (always repeated) is “Be Strong, Run Strong.”
Thanks!
Everytime I see these necklaces I fall in love just a little bit more! My mantra is “keep calm and carry on”
when things get tough for me or someone around me, I always say, “be strong, be tough, be brave.” when I think that, I stand a little straighter and feel a little more determined.
just liked the fb page. now going to shop.
My personal mantra is “HEP”
in flying trapeze it means “jump” or “go”. Both while flying and on the ground it is a reminder for me to jump, even when I am hesitant.
My mantra is “she believed she could, so she did”. It is on a canvas that my mom bought me in my office. She watched me run my first 5k in August. She’s an angel now but she believed and so do I…..so I am training for my first 10k and then half.
And I liked Erica Sara designs on FB and will be gifting from there soon.
Kelly, this is so beautiful
Major love to you & your mom… and best of luck with your training!
My mantra would be “this too shall pass”
Also, just liked on Facebook!
My mantra is “strength, endurance”. I wanted to get tattoo on each wrist so when I am feeling tired and want to quit, I can just look down and see it. My husband has VITA and MORS on his forearm. A necklace, however, seems like a better idea. =)
I love the one that says, “You can do it!”, since these four wonderful and meaningful words meant much to me because my mom once told me this before I entered middle school and it made me study hard and achieve academically.
love this necklace!
my mantra would be “Run Strong”, a phrase that has gotten me through many miles
Mine would be “The house that strenght built” and it is based on this awesome rant from stumptous.com: http://www.stumptuous.com/rant-64-april-2012-the-house-that-stump-built
An excerpt:
“Give me your saggy, your baggy, your faggy, your haggy. [...] Give me your bodies wracked with life’s whims; your hormonally challenged; your rattling bottles of pills like morbid maracas; your diseases of disuse. Your old knee injury from when you tried drunken trampolining.
Give me your your shit-talkers and funk-walkers; the voices in your head who sing the Rocky training montage; your sniveling inner toddler who stamps and says “No!”. Leave your inner critic at the door, or do five pushups every time you speak to yourself seriously in her voice.
Give me your clueless big-eyed newbies and grizzled gray-prickly veterans. Give me your squashy and scrawny. Give me your chickenshits; you people hunting for your fighting spirit and tending the tiny flame of Yes we can inside your ribcage.
It doesn’t matter who kicked the sand in your face. Spit it out and let’s get to work.
You can all apply for this job of awesome. No resumé required. The universe will be your hiring committee, and we need a lot of staff.
All are welcome in this house that strength built.”
I liked her page on facebook, too. My name is Malin Forshallen
I’d have the mantra “Strength” engraved. whenever I’m training, i think strong, act strong, train strong.
Great giveaway! My mantra? “Dig deep”!
My mantra: “Live out loud”
my mantra would be “I can”
My mantra is ‘be happy’
Great giveaway. My mantra “May I live my life with ease” but if that doesn’t fit it would be “compassion”.
my mantra is “just got with it”
My mantra would be “Paddle Paddle” – when I surf, I repeat this to myself to remind me to just keep paddling, to just keep going. Now, I find myself repeating these words when I run or during a hard spin class too!
I also like Erica Sara Designs on FB!
My mantra is “Do it for those who can’t” or “Reach for Your Goals.” Such a great giveaway; love Erica!!
And I already like Erica Sara Designs on Facebook
Big fan of Erica Sara’s work. My mantra would be “Onward.”
That necklace looks so pretty. A mantra? That’s a tough one. I like the “believe” one but I also like “strength”. Either would be good while running to help keep motivation!
My mantra is “Finisher”! Whenever I feel like I can’t go on I say “run walk or crawl, I AM A FINISHER!”
My mantra is “shut up & run”
So pretty!! My current saying for running and finishing my dissertation: “Just keep swimming.”
I just like EricaSara designs on FB, and I **LOVE** the mantra necklace! Mine will say:
less effort, more speed
I’d just have ‘believe’ engraved!
LOVE this concept! And the necklace is gorgeous. I would be honored to wear one of her custom designs, she is so talented!
Hmm, my mantra? “No limits” — which is how I’ve been living 2012 as my year of no limits. Very fitting I do believe, so far!
I’m torn between “Seek Justice” and “Relentless Forward Progress”!
Her collection is beautiful! I would have “Dirt in the skirt” because not only do I love the movie “A League of Their Own” but after playing field hockey and lacrosse for years AND just purchasing my first running skirt, I love the idea of balancing being a woman and fitness together. Plus, it’s a fun saying that always makes me smile.
And I just liked her page of FB!
What I tell students in my spin classes “you didn’t come here to be lazy”
My motto is “Dum spiro spero”– “While I breathe, I hope.” As an asthmatic who used to live a very restricted life due to my breathing issues, this phrase has come to represent the way I live my hope– through action! I beat asthma every time I run, and it will never rule my life again!
My personal mantra, after losing my little brother is, “life is too short for excuses.” It reminds me to carry on, and to push through the struggles and motivates me to do what I need to. To accomplish my goals, workouts and tasks in my everyday life. Remembering this mantra allows me to do it all because he is no longer able to do what he wants. To me it’s a beautiful honor for my brother.
In addition, I’ve also liked Erica on Facebook.
My mantra is “Om mani padme hum.” It is a beautiful chant.
My mantra is “make it happen”. It reminds me that only I have the power to make or break my own success.

“A hui hou”, which is Hawaiian for “Good bye, until we meet again.” It has a personal meaning to me in that no matter how a situation has ended, it doesn’t mean it’s closed forever. It try to keep this perspective in mind throughout my life.
Just liked on Facebook.
I always try and come up with something good for a mantra…and honestly during the middle of every hard run I’ve had, I always end up thinking about my 2 year old daughter and her energy and smiles and giggles help push me through. So…I guess my mantra is “Hailey”
Love it!
I know it’s simple but I say it to myself all the time during races when I feel myself flagging in energy:
YOU CAN DO THIS! or COME ON, LINNA! (but I like the first sentence better)
Oh also, I liked Erica Sara Designs FB page. I would love it if I could
My mantra would be, “believe in your strength.” The only person holding me back is me.

Veni, Vidi, Vici – I came, I saw, I conquered.
I would engrave “Believe” as a reminder to always believe I can do it. Whatever “it” is.
The necklace is so pretty! I love her designs. My personal mantra is Beauty by Strength. I believe there is great beauty in being a strong active woman. I haven’t always been active and haven’t always felt beautiful. This last year I have lost over 60 pounds and feel AMAZING. I have been running and spinning and it hasn’t always been easy to keep motivated, but I am doing it!
Also I liked her facebook page
Liked her page on FB. Beautiful stuff!!!

I like the Mantra “believe” as you have pictured, I think that for so much of life you just have to believe that it will happen, or things are how they’re supposed to be.
