Say it, Do it! {Not Fitting it All In}
{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}
Safe and sound back in NYC with my feet on the ground, I’m no longer in the friendly town of Stratton Mountain, VT. A weekend trip meant adjusting my workout commitments for the week. No excuses will be found here, I just couldn’t fit everything into my schedule.
Here’s the outcome from last week’s SIDI
2 Physique 57 classes (or 1 class and one Dvd workout)2 classes done!- 17 Miles of Running only ran 10.5 miles, needed to adjust training schedule for VT
7 Days of Stretchingdone!2 Days of winter sports in VermontI’m gonna say done (attempts count for something right)
Favorite workout of the week: Physique 57 Mixed Level class with Karen and Sarah C.
I left this class not knowing if my jello filled legs were going to be able to carry me down the subway stairs and back to work. It was perfect in all the right ways!
Workout I was the most proud of myself for doing: Squeezing in my long run after the rain and before our bus left for Vermont on Friday.
Workouts I’m committing to for this week:
- 2 Physique 57 Classes
- 17 Miles of Running (including Coogan’s Salsa, Blues, and Shamrock’s 5k on Sunday)
- 7 Days of Stretching
- 1 Day of Planks & other core work
- 1 Spin Class
What was your favorite workout from last week? Are you comfortable missing workouts you commit to from time to time or does it make you feel a bit uneasy?
What workouts you are committing to for the week?

I’m committing myself to 3 days of cross training- biking, elliptical, or walking. I’m also committing myself to doing planks on at least 6 days of the next week, at least 2 minutes per day.
This week my goal is focusing on quality workouts and mileage this week! I have a black tie event on Saturday night which means that I know there will be some indulgence.
Monday: 5 mile
Tuesday: personal training
Wednesday: hill/speed workout
Thursday: personal training
Friday: 9 mile long run
Saturday: 4 mile shake out run
Sunday: rest day
You are doing great Jess!!!
I did some really amazing weight workouts this past week – always but this week felt just so much more for some reason!
Hoping for the same this week but I do have teeth issues up in the air so not sure what they will do to me….. been there & done that so if I am out, I just modify my food & get back to it within a few days of healing.
I’m committing myself to five runs and 1 yoga class. Four of the runs need to be before work this week – I’m heading out of town for the weekend and don’t plan to bring my running shoes.
One of the runs will have to be Sunday afternoon when I get back.
I love Karen at Physique! So glad she’s back from her Rockette hiatus!
This week:
Mon: Physique advanced (let’s see how I do here-my last few advanced classes have been rough, to say the least)
Tue: Physique 57 open
Wed: Off
Thurs: Refine Method
Fri: Pilates
Sat:Physique 57 or Hot Figure 4 (undecided)
Sun: Spin
I think I heard her say it was her first class back.
I’ve gave myself a new training plan this cycle… one that isn’t regimented every single day, but rather just get it all done in a week – kinda like SIDI! Here’s what my weekly goal looks like:
Run Easy (3-4 m) – 2x
Run Tempo (5-6 m) – 1x
Run Intervals (5-6 m) – 1x
Run Long (10+ m) – 1x
Yoga – 2x
Swimming – 2x
Spinning/Biking – 2x
Ab/Core Work – 4x
Strength/Weights – 1x
This is amazing! I thought I worked out a lot!
That’s some serious working out! What’s your goal race?
My favorite workout this week was a Bar Method class (blast from the past!) I took on Saturday. My butt is STILL sore. I didn’t get in my 5 mile run the way I wanted to, I’m a little uneasy about it, but I am hoping I can make up for it this week.
This week, I’d like to accomplish two 4 mile runs and a 6 mile run. That’s all I can commit to. I have another bad work week and am going out of town this weekend. Hoping next week I can get back into a regular groove.
I hope your weekend away makes up for the challenging work week!
A total bummer of a week. Started the week great – met my goals for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – but was sick by Wed. night
Haven’t felt well enough to do much of anything but walk my dog since then.
I’m back at it today, though. Not feeling great, but going to try and get back to my old routine b/c I think I’m at the point where it will start to make me feel better!
Mon – 4 mile run w/ Sofie (the doggie) + abs

Tues – 4 mile run w/ Sofie + vinyasa yoga
Wed – Morning treadmill walk workout I ripped from Fit Chick
Thurs – off
Fri – 4 mile run w/ Sofie

Dang, girl – I am impressed! 10 out of 17 miles is crushing it!
If the weather messes with my workout I don’t feel so bad but I do tend to feel a bit guilty if I miss getting any exercise in. I try to walk the pup double those days.
So happy you loved Karen and Sarah C’s class! Here’s my schedule for the week:
Monday: Physique 57 Beginner
Tuesday: Formula 57 (if there’s space in the class)
Wednesday: Physique 57 Beginner
Thursday: Physique 57 Intermediate with Sarah C
Friday: Formula 57
I have a tough time giving up my “routine” but sometimes it’s unavoidable – “life” happens, right? For me, this week is a travel week for work and it’s leaving me feeling a little anxious about being out of my routine. BUT I’m using it to my advantage by using my AM alone time to practice my barre n9ne teaching structure so I’m ready to go when my first demo class comes up next Friday. ACK!
It never feels good to have to skip or reduce a training schedule you commit too. But sometimes life happens and you need to be flexible. Great job fitting in the run on a rainy/busy day! I am going to start training for The Diva Half Marathon starting Wednesday and keep up CrossFit on non-run days.
