Say it, Do it {Emergency Playlist}

2011 December 11
by Jess

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}

Back when I was still training for the NYCM, I decided to create an “emergency playlist”. It’s a rare day that I run with music, but I thought that I might carry my ipod with me on marathon day for when I hit the wall or just felt like I needed an extra boost.

Unexpectedly, this emergency playlist has come in handy on those days when I just don’t feel like working out. Every time I turn on this music I’m immediately motivated to pick up those dumbbells.

(please don’t judge me for the excessive number of Britney Spears tunes)

I highly recommend putting together an emergency playlist of your own. It can be a great motivator. I just hope these songs don’t lose their charm between now and November, 4 2012.
Here’s the workouts, I’m putting out there for #SIDI this week:

  • Monday: Physique 57
  • Tuesday: Spin
  • Wednesday: Lululemon Run Club
  • Thursday: off
  • Friday: Spinning/SurfSET
  • Saturday: Run
  • Sunday: Run

What workouts are you committing to?

Do you have an emergency playlist?

My plan this week because it will be crazy with work events:

    Monday: 2 x Spin @Flywheel
Tuesday: early am Spin @ Flywheel
Wednesday: Home workout or Lithe class…
    Thursday: day off
    Friday: day off
    Saturday: Lithe class
    Sunday: Triple Threat @Flywheel!

Not as much variety as I try to do but enough workouts that it will keep me sane through a crazy week!

I don’t have an emergency playlist. I don’t usually run with music myself but that’s a fun list!
    This week:
    Mon: Physique 57
    Tue: Refine method
    Wed: Physique 57
    Thursday: Formula 57
    Fri: Spin/Physique 57
    Sat: Physique 57
    Sun: Spin

Hopefully SIDI will keep me accountable considering this is also finals week at my grad school…

Well, my weeks are starting to sound like a broken record. But, for being broken, that record is doing the trick! I feel challenged and (as long as my eating stays on track) I am seeing results!
    Mon: Refine/Run
    Tues: Refine
    Wed: Refine/IntenSati Shrink Session*
    Thurs: Refine
    Fri: Refin/Run
Sat: Run (and try not to get wasted at holiday party)
Sun:off (feeling great cuz I am not hungover…I am not hungover….I am not hungover….)
*If anyone wants to come out for an IntenSati Shrink Session, Wed the 21st at 6:30 is only $10 for my invited guest or any newbies- holiday party + exercise! Hooray.

Oh, and music…I have had so many playlists and have lost so many collections of music over the past 10 years that I don’t have a good one anymore! Now my go-to is a Pandora station with a good beat. I like the Lady Gaga station for running as well as the Club/Dance, which is so not my typical taste music, but it works for exercise. Elliot Smith just doesn’t make me want to run as far.

I don’t have an emergency playlist, but sort of a rotating playlist that I keep handy and rotate songs in and out as I get sick of them and find new ones. And mine is heavy on the Britney too, so no judgement!
Monday – Core Fusion, 4 mile run
    Tuesday – Core Fusion Yoga
Wednesdsay/Thursday – ideally I would like to do 4 miles on Wednesday and Core Fusion Yoga on Thursday but I have a late night on Tuesday so Wednesday may end up being a rest day, and if that happens, I’ll do 4 miles on Thursday
    Friday – Core Fusion
    Saturday – 6.5 mile run
    Sunday – rest/Music Yoga Flow

    Let’s do this! :)

    Tuesday-yoga
    Wednesday – speed workout
    Thursday – yoga
    Friday – rest
