A Workout for When All Else Fails
2011 October 20
Your alarm didn’t go off.
Your workout partner cancelled.
Your stuck in meetings all day long.
You said it, but didn’t do it.
This workout is for those days. It doesn’t take any equipment and you don’t need much space or time. All you need is a clock. You don’t even have to put on workout clothes.
The When All Else Fails Workout
If you have five minutes here’s what you do:
- One minute of push-ups
- One minute of tricep-dips (either on the floor or off the couch)
- One minute forearm plank
- One minute wall sit
- One minute of lunges (you can take it up a notch and do plyo-metric lunges instead)
Have 10 minutes? Do all exercise in a row once, then repeat.

LOVE this!!! Great backup plan!
yes m’am! File this one under tough love/no excuses!
I like this–you could even do this during commercials or while waiting for water to boil for dinner!
I love this! I always feel bad when I can’t make it t teh gym. I never stop to think that one really doesn’t need a gym. Simple stuff like push-ups and lunges will do the trick. Thanks for sharing!
love it. i need to really get my a(*& in gear when i am on my own, if i don’t have a class to go to i just bag any strength and run… this should help
If it is important enough o you & you are worth it, there is always a way as you showed here!
I need to bookmark this post for my clients who say they “never have time for a workout”. In fact, I have one client who I just counseled this week, and told her she needs to do a 10 minute workout in the morning to get her metabolism going. This could be it!
This could not have come at a better time! Skipped my plan for yoga today and instead will get a good workout in of pushups and wall sits
So true. If something derails me, I won’t work out. I have to remind myself it’s not all or nothing. That’s why I like that Nike Training app cause it pushes me to at least do 15 minutes.
