Say it, Do it Labor Day Edition {Summer’s Not Over Yet!}
I hope you’re all having a great Labor Day weekend! I was a little bummed that the official end of summer is right around the corner, but then I remembered how much winter running makes me smile!
Let’s talk about running and this whole NYCM training plan thing. I’ve had some minor injuries and set backs, I’m lucky that I can still run and that my issues seem to be getting better. I confess that I’m a little disappointed that I ran 12 miles on a weekend when my original training schedule called for 20. However, I’m not going to sit with that disappointment. I’ve mapped out a new training plan that will get the job done and will hopefully still help me reach my ultimate goal of finishing under 3:40.
I’m also learning a lot and isn’t that the whole point?
For this Labor day version of “Say it, Do it” in addition to committing to your workout schedule of the week, tell me if you could have any job in the world, what would that job be?
My husband’s fantasy job is being a formula one racer. I’ve yet to figure out what mine is.
Say it, Do it Labor Day Edition:
- Monday: 12 mile run/physical therapy exercises
- Tuesday: Hot Yoga
- Wednesday: Run + Pt Exercises
- Thursday: Physique 57 or off
- Friday:Off
- Saturday:15 Mile Long Run
- Sunday: Yoga
{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}

When I saw this in my Google Reader, I looked at your photo and thought, “Holy cow I thought she was in New York! Snow?!” And then I realized it was an old photo. Ha.
I’m with you, though. Fall and winter running are my favorites. I am loving the return of cooler weather.
That is hilarious!
Thanks for the say it do it reminder! This is my first work week with the college students back and a week away from my burlesque debut. So here is my say it do it plan for this week:

Ideal job? Hmm.. I would love to own a fitness studio someday or a bakery. Both on opposite ends of the spectrum, I know!
Not a fan of winter ANYTHING! Don’t worry about the setbacks, there is still so much time and you can absolutely meet your goal.

Thursday: 4 mile run

Mmmm, yes, winter running! I LOVE it too. The brunch afterwards and hot tea are always the best too… can’t get behind hot food after a hot long run in the summer…
Glad to hear you’re getting back on track! Stay focused and this won’t derail your marathon plans at all — we still have 9 weeks (related: holy crap – 9 weeks?!?!). my last two weeks have been awful, for slightly different reasons, but a blow to the morale nonetheless.
This week for me:
Monday: Blistering badass speedwork (total 5 miles) DONE! haha
Tuesday: crazy travel+work day — any form of exercise will do
Wednesday: 6 mile tempo run
Thursday: elliptical and strength at the gym
Friday: yoga
Saturday: 18 miler (fingers crossed)
Sunday: yoga, massage

I have to add that I also love winter running – going for a run when the sidewalks aren’t even clear makes me feel hardcore. The only thing I don’t like are the people who choose not to clear the ice off their sidewalks.
So fun! I can’t wait to follow along with your training!
Thanks! I am so excited – and my 3 mile run this morning was great! I was in Indiana and it was so nice outside (no higher than 50 degrees at 6:15!).
I am terrified of winter running! My ears always hurt (even with a headband!)
I missed posting the past few weeks but I have kept up with my workouts! This week:
Mon: Hot Yoga
Tues: Figure 4
Weds: Hot Ki Vinyasa
Thurs: Figure 4
Fri: 5k run/jog
Sat: off
Sun: tbd (either run/bike/yoga)
Have a good week!
I’m actually not sure about the job right now… But I’ll think about it!
Here are my workouts for the week:

Back after 12 days in FL (where I ran at dark o’clock and in humidity that nearly put me out – but I did it including a 9 and 10 miler). I love being a dietitian but if I could own a spa or professional food writer, I might be in heaven.
Here’s my plan (barring any insomnia):
M: 5 miles (done before am flight)
T: 3 miles
W: 5 miles
Th: rest
F: 50-60 min cross train
S: 10-11 mile run
S: Rest
Hang in there Jess! Maybe try those Zensah sleeves. Carla, MizFit, LOVED them & seems like many of the people that commented agree both to run in OR afterwards OR both.
I will do my normal weekly workouts of cardio, weights, abs/core & stretching.
Me – I would have loved to be a fitness model but not to be…. got to have the right looks for that – but it would have been fun!
I saw this link over at GirlGetStrong: http://girlgetstrong.com/2011/08/29/how-do-you-find-relief-after-a-hard-workout/. Check out #3 & click on the links… might help you – I don’t know anything but what I read.
Monday: Refine + 4.5 mi
Tuesday: Core Cardio + 4.5 mi
Wednesday: Vinyasa + 4.5
Thursday: Core Fusion + 4.5
Friday: Vinyasa + 4.5
Saturday: Core Fusion + 4.5
Any job in the world? Hmm…philanthropist? I would like to not have to work, and just be independently wealthy. Is that bad?
Me too re: the job! I just want the freedom to do the things I want to do.
You have such a positive attitude!
Last week wasn’t so hot. We’re going to shoot for better things this week.
Monday – 4 mile run
Tuesday – Core Fusion Yoga
Wednesday – 30 minute run
Thursday – Core Fusion Yoga
Friday – off
Saturday – 20 minute run, Music Yoga Flow
Sunday – Chicago Half Marathon! Dun dun dun…..
I’m so excited for your goal! That’s an awesome one, and I can’t wait to see you shatter it.
I am not sure what my workouts will look like this week but I just want to say gracias for helping me get out of the house, last night!
Hmm…dream job? probably something that marries my love of fitness and inspiring others and what I’m “good” at which is PR and social media. Though…still not sure what that would turn out to look like, job-wise, but trust me, I’m on the lookout!
My week…
Sunday – rest
Monday – 5miles on the lake road (last of the summer, sad face!)
