Class Review: Barry’s Bootcamp NYC II
Submit a NYC workout review here.
Class: Barry’s Bootcamp
Class Location: Barry’s Bootcamp Studio NYC
Instructor: Alycia
Class Description: “All Barry’s Bootcamp classes are one hour, and each class includes 25 to 30 minutes of interval cardiovascular routines on the treadmills and 25-30 minutes of strength training using free weights and other equipment. The floor work focuses on a different major muscle group each day allowing clients to develop a targeted program, or to attend Monday through Friday for an ideal well-balanced workout routine (see below for weekly schedule). Instructors will vary the workouts from two 30 minute segments one day to four 15 minute segments another and even multiple short segments moving the class from treadmill to the floor every 5 minutes.” (from the Barry’s Bootcamp website).

Favorite things about the class:
- Instructors! Alycia, Barry, Natalie, Joey, etc were SO nice and welcoming. They are so excited to bring their great program to NYC
- State of the art treadmills. I am not good at doing interval runs on my own so it was good to be pushed to new speeds. It also shock absorbs for your joints.
- Time flew all while having the best workout of my life.
Least favorite things about the class:
- I wish the classes would always be free because then I would live there!
- I also wished it was closer to my apt so again, I could live there :)
Overall class rating: 5 0ut of 5 stars
Additional Comments: I got to take Alycia & Natalie’s class opening weekend for free. They were both awesome and I took advantage of the discount and bought 30 classes. Yes the prices are a little steep but it is hands down the best class I have taken. I left the place glowing from my sweat and the adrenaline.

Speak of the devil, Jess! I just finished drafting my writeup of Barry’s in LA from this morning, will post soon. I want to check them out when I’m back in NYC also!!
No way! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
haha! I think I needed to be in your kind of shape to keep up with the regulars there, but I had a blast. It was also cool to be at the original location with Barry. I’m curious to know if the NY staff are as insanely nice as the people in LA, or if it’s just that people in LA are all tan, fit, and happy!
btw, here is my review of the West Hollywood (full body) class in case anyone is interested:
