7 Things I LOVED about my 1st Physique 57 Class

2011 March 15
by Jess

Feeling like I was the last woman in Manhattan to have not tried out a Physique 57 class, I was super excited to finally take my first class After training my morning clients I headed over to the 57th Street location for a beginner’s class with Tanya Becker (co-founder of P57) and Mandy.

If you aren’t familiar with Physique 57, they offer barre style workout classes that originate from the Lotte Berk Method of exercise (as is Core Fusion, Bar Method, and BarWorks). This particular style of barre class is also known for giving Kelly Ripa her fit, toned physique.

Here’s the class description from their website.

“Physique 57®is a focused and proven cardiovascular program of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches. Physique 57 tones your seat, abdominals, thighs and arms; strengthens your legs and back; and improves posture to produce a beautiful, sexy body.”

7 Things I LOVED about my 1st Physique 57 Class

#1: The night before the class I received a courtesy call from P57, reminding me of my first class, what time to get there as other information about the studio. This is the first time I’ve ever received a call like this from a studio. (very impressed!)

#2: The vibe here is happy and energetic, but not over the top.

#3: Despite it being my first time there I immediately felt comfortable both in the studio and during class.

#4: The class itself has a light, fun feeling to it. I didn’t believe Mandy when she told me it was going to be a fun, but she was right!

#5: The 57 minutes flew by! I’ve never taken a bar class that didn’t seem like it lasted forever.

#6: They offer different level classes unlike many other barre style classes.

#7 Both Tanya and Mandy gave great instruction, gave personalized adjustments and seemed to know the name of everyone in the room.

Number of things I didn’t like = 0

* Thank you to Physique 57 for inviting me to take the class and for giving me a challenging and fun workout!

Amazing review!!! Did want to mention that#6 isn’t exactly correct. Core Fusion has three levels: Basic, Open and Advanced. I’m glad you had such a great experience! I am dying to try their Abs & Arms Booster class.

This is not the first time I have heard that this class flies so quickly. I wonder what it is they do that makes it seem like it passes so much faster than the other ones?

    Great review!

I don’t think I have ever heard anything negative about Physique 57 workouts. Not sure how I would try one though.

I felt exactly the same way when I attended Physique 57 when in NYC. I do their dvd’s, but the class is so much fun. They are awesome. Love going to Physique 57 when in NYC.

I’ve been going to Physique since it first opened. Just before I took my first class, I bought a new 10 class package at Exhale/Core Fusion where I had been taking classes for about 6 months. After trying Physique, I loved it so much that I never went back to Exhale even though I had 10 classes that I had already paid for. I can’t rave enough about Physique!!

An hour workout class that FLIES by?!?! That’s unheard of!! I Wish we had that here. Who knows, perhaps we do I’m still stuck on getting my workouts here at home. I’ll start to do classes eventually though…

So on the Bachelor Brad’s sister in-law was talking about how Emily (the girl he chose, the one who has a kid) would relate to her and Brad’s other sister-in-law SO MUCH better than Chantel (Brad’s other choice) simply because she had a kid. I definitely thought about your post right away. She said something like, “no one understands us and can related to us unless they have kids of their own!”

Um, no, you’re not the last. Tash has been trying to get me in there forever. Must schedule it. Thinking of doing a blogger event too :) Glad you had such a great experience. From the celebs that are die-hards, it must be working.
