The Fresh Diet Review

Convenience is everything in today’s world. Fresh Direct and Soap.com are a busy New Yorker’s best friends.

For the past 6 years food delivery programs have been gaining in popularity making losing weight easier than ever for time pressed individuals that have a little extra money to spend on food.

Last week I spent 7 days trying out The Fresh Diet.

The Fresh Diet is a food delivery program that delivers three meals and two snacks to your door step that are freshly prepared by their chefs. Here’s a breakdown of what you get each day:

  • Calories 1200-1400 for women (i’m not sure how many kcal for men)
  • 40% Carbs
  • 30% Fats
  • 30% Protein

Here’s a sample menu:

I was surprised at how good the food tasted. Over the course of seven days I never had the same thing for breakfast. I looked forward to seeing what was packed in my bag each morning.

The Fresh Diet breakfast gets 5 out of 5 stars!

Lunch most days was a salad of some sort.

The Fresh Diet Lunches get a 4 stars. On days when I didn’t have a salad, I felt like I needed more veggies.

The snacks were mostly delicious, but a few weren’t so great. The veggie egg rolls were amazing, but the small slice of eggplant with mozzarella basil weren’t for me.

The Fresh Diet snacks get 3 stars

After the first few days of dinners, I stopped eating the tofu and supplemented with some other source of protein. I think that the dinners would have been better if they had more vegetarian options. I’m just not a fan of tofu.

The Fresh Diet dinners get a 2.5 out of 5 stars due to lack of variety.

Bottomline: I loved the fact that these meals got me out of my food rut. I loved not spending time trying to figure out what to eat next. I didn’t love the dinners but the rest of the food was impressive and flavorful. If I were to do this program again, I’d need to do a higher calorie program.

I give the overall program 4 out of 5 stars.

Would I recommend this to a client? Yes! If you can afford it and you need convience, it’s a great option.

*Tip: If you want to try out the program for free follow The Fresh Diet on Facebook where they often offer contests for a free week of food.  Groupon has also featured The Fresh Diet.

{FTC: FCITC received a complimentary week of The Fresh Diet for review, but all thoughts on the program are my own.}

Thx for the great review! I eat more than 1200-1400 calories but I am not trying to lose weight. Not enough food for me! ;-) But I can see how things like this help time crunched people!

Same here! I had to supplement with some extras.

Wow I’ve heard a bit about the Fresh Diet, but I love the honest review! What time does it get delivered every morning? I would probably need a plan where I could choose what the menu items were – eggplant is not my fave either.

It arrived at my door around 5a.m. each morning. There is a more expensive option where you do get to choose your meals from a list of that day’s options.

This is a great post! I believe if I had prepared meals I would do great in my quest to lose weight. It’s hard to follow a plan because im am such a picky but im trying to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. Well, I dont want to say diet, lifestyle change. Good luck!

Interesting! I would LOVE to try something like this just to get me back on track eating-wise. I know it’s expensive though. I’m definitely going to be on the lookout and become a Facebook fan.

This looks amazing, but it’s pretty expensive, huh?

It’s around $40/day depending on how many days you sign-up for. I have spotted a deal on groupon before. And I just actually purchased a different food delivery service for 1/2 price via bloomspot.

I’d love to try it! I’ll like them on Facebook. It is great not to think about your meal but of course it costs money. Very honest and helpful review!

I am doing the Fresh Diet at this time but it is quite pricey. Would you mind sharing the new delivery service that you are doing now for 1/2 the price? Thank you for the review!

I bought, a week of The Chef’s Diet for 50% off via bloomspot. I haven’t redeemed it yet.

I love the idea of this service but I’m afraid I would go hungry. Portion sizes look miniscule. I’m with you: eggplant bleah. I’m not the world’s greatest at reheating food, either. I think I’ll stick with the food bar at Whole Foods for now.

This is great! How does the delivery system work in an apartment building though? Do they buzz you or leave it outside? I don’t see my husband too keen on being woken up that early…

I live in a walk-up so I had to give them a key to the building (not my apartment). They then dropped of the food sometime before 5am.
