The Good and The Bad: Snacking Edition
Bad Sacks:

Good Snacks:

I have big goals for my 35th year. If I want to reach them, I need to focus on not eating leftover Christmas cookies and focus on eating healthier snacks like Laughing Cow® Cheese and veggies.
Can you believe that I hadn’t tried laughing cow cheese until early this month with I was invited to The Laughing Cow #FitJoy Tweet-up at Pure Yoga?

It was a great night of yoga and snacking. We were treated to a private yoga class with Danya and then sampled Laughing Cow cheese.

(I’m the one hiding behind a ponytail bush, can you say someone needs a haircut?)
The reason I’m telling you about this now, is that I need to change my snacking habits. As of late, I’ve come up with every excuse in the book to grab a Christmas cookie instead of an apple and cheese. In fact, I admit that just before writing this post I ate two of the cookies in the above photo.
My challenge to myself is to stop snacking on holiday leftovers and start eating healthy yummy snacks like Laughing Cow cheese paired with fruit or veggies. I’m not starting tomorrow, I’m starting RIGHT NOW!
More of these kind of snacks and

less of these kind:

What’s your favorite healthy snack?
Thank you to The Laughing Cow for inviting me to the Tweet-up and introducing me to your yummy cheese!

Probably nuts and dried fruit.
I find that when you start something immediately you have a better chance at sticking to it, yet I am not too sure why that is? However, I LOVE Laughing Cow (so does my dog Buddy) They have great little slices of low fat swiss that makes him and I very happy! Your blog has now inspired me to stop eating this box of chocolate covered pretzels someone bought for me. I am going to give them to the guys down the hall, let’s face it guys will eat just about anything, and I’m going to stop ignoring my vanilla greek yogurt that is sitting in the fridge since last week!
Good job! I’m trying my best to do the same!
So while i’m totally with you on the less cookies, more veggies train I have to be honest. It made me a little sad to see you label cookies as “bad” right off the bat. I’m a huge believer in everything in moderation and to label a cookie “bad” leads to all sorts of food guilt. Cookies are good. Just eat more veggies then cookies.
And my favorite healthy snack is veggies and hummus!
more veggies *than* cookies.
Nuts and kale chips are probably my favorite snacks currently.
hummus, hummus, and more hummus! I love it veggies and GF crackers!
I need to try laughing cow! Right now my favorite snack is just raw baby carrots (with or without hummus). Yumm <3
Yes, you do! It’s so good and there are so many flavors!
Nick and I were JUST talking about how the week after Christmas all we do is crave sugar. It’s like your body gets used to that last couple months of a little extra sugar, and now it just wants it all the time! Same with salt. It’s crazy. I’ve been snacking like it’s my job. I am not a huge fan of Laughing Cow because I can’t stop at just one. They are high in sodium and one is never enough for me!! It’s pathetic.
This is definitely the time of year where all I was is Christmas cookies- I’m actually glad I went away after Christmas because we had to give all our leftovers to Eric’s parents
My favorite healthy snacks are baby carrots and hummus, or greek yogurt.
Those cookies looked YUM! I treat myself every weekend to a couple cookies & eat pretty clean all week long & weekend too but I have to have my treat cookies!
Fav healthy snack.. almonds or my homemade protein cookies!
Laughing Cow cheese is a perfect snack! I even find the ligh swiss soft wedges to be a good “icing” like topper to a healthy muffin.
Great idea!
this is going to sound so dorky and i hope none of my guy pals see but, i love roasted brussels sprouts to munch on.
My favorite holiday snack is anything that involves chocolate and peppermint. The Candy Cane Joe Joes from Trader Joes are my downfall. Which is why I want to THANK YOU for writing this. I too have big goals for my 35th year. However, I went to Trader Joes today thinking I would just buy whatever Candy Cane Joe Joe items they had left beacuse you can only get them once a year (never mind I have three boxes in my freezer already!!!!) andI thought of this post and I actually managed to restrain myself. Even though they had Candy Cane Joe Joe ICE CREAM. Sigh.
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome. Those Joe Joes are dangerous! Did you see the dark chocolate covered ones?
My new thing are these “roll-ups” I’m making with lettuce/hummus/cucumber/peppers/tomato/avocado…..we had a gal from Tribe Hummus show us some wraps at a fitness event and I’ve been hooked ever since. She made them with tortillas, but during the week when I’m avoiding “carbs” I use lettuce. Kinda messy but YUM.
