Tesuto at Crunch
Don’t ask me to pronounce the name of Crunch’s brand new butt kicking group fitness class, Tesuto. However, I think it sounds like “ouch”. But, the good kind of ouch that makes you wanna keep coming back to test your limits. The name of the class, Tesuto means “to test” in Japanese.

Last week, I got to experience Tesuto for myself. I took a class with it’s founder, Angel at the 38th Street Crunch. The good news is that it was the first time the class was being offered, so I didn’t feel intimidated. The bad news is that I was super sore from my previous workouts that week.
Angel started class by describing the purpose of a Tesuto class. He even gave us hand outs. Here’s how he described the class:
“It is a program that is designed to test the physical fitness abilities of an individual and help them surpass the pre-described limitations set within themselves and the typical gym environment.”

Here’s how the sweatfest went down:
- Stretching
- Cardio warm-up
- *6-7 minutes of all legs (just like bar method, yet somehow not at all like bar method)
- Cardio drills (basics like burpees and mountain climbers)
- Upper Body moves (unique moves like spider crawls)
- Core
- More stretching
What I loved about the class:
- Angel was an attentive and caring instructor despite the large group
- The leg stuff killed, but I loved it most of all.
- Tons of stretching
Next time I see Crunch on Groupon, I’m buying the month pass. The classes there really are top notch.
Don’t have a Crunch membership either? Never fear, you too can try out classes at Crunch by downloading a free one week pass.

that class sounds awesome!! I dont there is a crunch near me here in boston but I hear its an awesome gym!
Sweatfest is Right! Im literally pooring when Im done with my workout, like I just got out of the jacuzzi… Your workout Sounds interesting.
Um yes, this is what I NEED!! It’s hard to be pushed past my “limit” without having someone there to push me…you know?! So I think this would be the class for me. And I know I would be sore, but I’d love it.
Oh man, you said burpees and I died of exhaustion. I once had a contest with my nephew over who could do 20 burpees the fastest… i lost. and cried.
What a fantastic review, it makes me think twice about Crunch when I see promos for them next time. I’m glad you had a good instructor, sometimes they make ALL the difference.
Sounds like an awesome workout!!!! Will have to see where those gyms are!
