Fitness Magazine Subscription Giveaway!

2010 September 1
by Jess

There are some things, I’ll just never be able to do.

And I’m okay with that. =)

However, I never ever thought I’d be able to run outside during the cold months of winter. Now, I love it and even ran a race last January.

IMG_0712.JPG

I never thought I’d be able to touch the floor during standing poses in yoga class, but I can.

Today, I’m giving away two subscriptions to Fitness Magazine.  Mine is up for renewal and includes two free gift subscriptions, which I want you to have.

To enter the contest leave a comment telling me about a fitness goal you achieved that once seemed impossible.

Contest ends Tomorrow night, September 2nd at 12:00 a.m. EST.

    Chin-ups.
I never was able to do one before… now I can do 5!

  2. September 1, 2010

Definitely a fitness competition! I never thought I could do one and had wanted to for 5 years!

  3. September 1, 2010

    How generous of you! :)
My fitness goals are always changing. But one I can say I struggled with the most was Running. Like alot of other success stories, I couldn’t run more then 2 minutes without having to stop and catch my breath. I was so focused on the Mile numbers, rather then enjoying the fact that I have the ability to run. Long story short, I started to run without my Ipod, and With my dog, and it became easier and easier. I’m running my first half marathon in 3 weeks. All I can say is I am SO PROUD OF MYSELF. (couldnt have done it without the blog world!)

    great and generous giveaway!

for me its getting up and just taking a mindless walk. It clears my mind and hours later i have walked miles! feels great!

  5. September 1, 2010

I never thought I’d be able to run a half marathon (or run at all!) after I injured my feet, but I finished 2 this spring! And I never would have imagined I’d be able to finish a 24 hr bike ride- which I did this weekend :)

    Thanks for hosting this!

I never thought I could run. I never thought I’d LIKE running. Now, I crave it. I’m gearing up for a 5-mile race at the end of the month and am signed up for a 10k in December!

Running long distances. I may not be fast but I can go the distance!

If there is one thing I love it’s magazines, how sweet of you.

I will say that I recently competed in my first triathlon, and I placed. I cannot swim, it’s really awful, but I practiced as hard as I could and faced my fear. When my name was announced you would have thought I won $1M bucks. All that hard work, sweat and tears was more than worth it.

You inspired us all, through your hard work!!!

A fitness goal that I achieved was just getting myself to commit to incorporating exercise into my hectic schedule! Now that I have a steady routine going, I feel better than ever!

  10. September 1, 2010

I never thought I could run a 5K in under 26 minutes and I managed 24:12. There are actually so many things I never thought I could do – like running period or being able to curl 20# dumbbells.

I never in a million years thought I could become a runner, let alone a marathoner! I was slow, but I finished my first marathon just over a year after I started. I can still vividly remember being unable to make it the whole 0.8 miles around my local park without walking. Now, I can’t wait to conquer marathon #2 in Philly in November!!!

  12. September 1, 2010

I never thought I would be bummed out because I could work out. I never thought I would rearrange my schedule to fit in a run. I never thought I’d be able to run 3 miles. I’m looking forward to more “I never thoughts” — like I never thought I’d be able to run 10-minute miles outside (I’m still above 12 minute-miles, but I’m getting there!).

  13. September 1, 2010

Running for 30 minutes straight. It took me a lot of failures but I finally reached the goal. And then I surpassed it! I just ran my first 15-miler this past weekend!

  14. September 1, 2010

Running for more than a mile – it took so long for me to get past that mark!

  16. September 1, 2010

Last year I made it a goal to learn how to do a cartwheel! And I did it!!!! I had NEVER done one before because, as a fat kid, I was embarrassed to even try. I took the lower grade in gym and did a summersalt instead when we did tumbling. And I never took any gymnastic classes even though I wanted to and all my friend did. Now I can do it!!! Whenever I want, I can bust out a cartwheel!!

This is going to sound silly compared to all the other fitness goals here, but when I was at my worst with my knee injury I had a goal of biking for 10 minutes. No high speeds, just staying on the bike without pain. The day I got to 10, I almost cried I was so happy.

In March, I ran my first race which was a 50 mile relay. Not only was it 50 miles, but we had to run it overnight. The race didn’t start until 9pm! However, it is great now to be proud of my accomplishment and tell people, including myself that I could actually do it.

  19. September 1, 2010

Running my first 5K seemed impossible, and I’m about to embark on another one that seems impossible — my first 10k! Ahh!

  20. September 1, 2010

The first time I ran a 5k! I seriously never thought I’d be able to do it and was so proud when I finally did.

  21. September 1, 2010

I NEVER thought I would run a 5K. I ran my first in 33:46. My next one is on the 11th. And now I’m signed up for a half marathon in January!

As crazy as it sounds my fitness goal of the last year was simply to exercise regularly. I have always gone through small bursts of activity but it has never stuck. Finally I decided this was it and I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week. I am now coming up on my 1 year anniversary and I think I finally have it!

  23. September 1, 2010

    Thanks for being so generous!

My fitness goal last year was to do a pull up. I was strength training like crazy to get there and when my chin went about that bar, I felt like I was on top of the world! Then I amazed myself with two more. It was a truly a remarkable moment because my motto is “there’s beauty in strength”.

  24. September 1, 2010

I was never much of a runner so when I ran 2 miles without stopping for the first time a few months ago I was ecstatic! Now I’d like to transfer that ability to an actual race. :)

  25. September 1, 2010

My fitness goal is to do 20 push ups… I am working on that goal and I am up to 13!

  26. September 1, 2010

Being able to run 2 miles! I’m not a runner at all, so getting through 2 miles without stopping was pretty amazing to me. :)

  27. September 1, 2010

I think my achieved fitness goal would be a perfectly
balanced headstand pose in yoga. It took me a while to
build up my core strength, but now it’s a cinch.

  28. September 1, 2010

Bodybuilding contests! I am a very shy person & I actually competed in natural bodybuilding in my late 30′s two years in a row.. I won both years!

  29. September 1, 2010

I didn’t think I’d be able to consistently practice yoga with a busy schedule and I’ve been able to do it at least once a week! In November hopefully I’ll be able to add complete half marathon to this!

  30. September 1, 2010

Before I lost 50 pounds, I never thought I’d be able to run a half-marathon. I’ve since run two, and I’m training for my first full marathon!

  31. September 1, 2010

I really never thought that I would get on a road bike. I am by no means even close to being a good cyclist, but it’s a great thing to work thought. Every time I ride I can feel the improvement. Now I’m looking into town bikes so I can skip public transportation all together!

I have had many fitness goals over the last year…it has been the “Year of Self-Improvement” or so my mirror says every morning (on a post-it!)

I recently accomplished 2 goals I was very proud of. The first sounds weird- but it was a plank contest. I was able to increase my plank time from 31 seconds to almost 2 minutes in a 12 week time span. I was very happy with my improvement on an exercise that is SO challenging for me.

The one I’m most proud of is PUSH-UPS. A few months ago I started trying to increase my push-ups. Over a 12 week span I was able to go from 20 modified push-ups to 44 in one minute. I was also able to do 10 real-ones!

  34. September 1, 2010

Props to you for running in the snow! I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to do that! heh
Actually for me…running for 13.1 miles in my half marathon. I used to hate running and couldn’t even run two miles until April of 2009.

  35. September 1, 2010

Very cool. Thanks for the opportunity. My biggest fitness shocker was, honestly, becoming a runner. Eight years ago I couldn’t run two blocks straight without keeling over. Now, I run a little longer than that before I keel over. Progress!

  36. September 1, 2010

I really want to run a race in the snow! I can’t wait for it to get cold again lol.
My biggest fitness accomplishment was finishing a 10 mile race. I always knew I could run a 5K, but when I finished a 10 mile race without stopping and two minutes under my goal time, it was probably the best feeling in the entire world.

  37. September 1, 2010

Great giveaway! My mission impossible right now is definitely running outside through Boston’s winter. I may be coming to you for advice!
My big fitness accomplishment was running the half marathon, it really felt impossible from mile 1-13 : )

I’d never thought I’d really call my self a runner, but now I do. AND I’m not embarrassed that I’ve never run a marathon or that I usually don’t run more than twice a week or that I prefer to run in a skirt. I don’t have to fit into your little runner box, thank you. Not only do I proudly call myself a runner, but I actually like it too. That’s that real shocker…

  39. September 2, 2010

When I was in junior high, I thought I’d never break seven minutes in the mile…and I didn’t…until high school! Then I thought I’d never break six minutes in the mile…..and I did! woo woo.

I wish I could touch the floor during standing poses in yoga…new goal!

  40. September 2, 2010

    Awesome!!
For me I had a fitness goal (similar to yours) of doing more yoga and actually getting into it! This past year I have done more yoga than ever before, and I’m loving it (although I still only do it about once a week). I feel more flexible and better able to relax and stay calm. It’s great!

  41. September 2, 2010

i went from being the girl that dreaded the mile in middle school and high school (our sadistic p.e. teacher would yell every friday, “smile! it’s the mile!” and if you didn’t he’d dock your grade….i got my first b+ from that man..*shudders*), to running my first half marathon in april with indeed a smile on my face!

  42. September 2, 2010

I never thought I could run a half marathon, but I have finished three and am training for my fourth in October! Hopefully, a full marathon is in my future…. :)

  43. September 2, 2010

Running a mile without stopping was enourmous for me.
    Running two miles was terrific.
I’m about to be able to run three miles without stopping.
and i dont plan on STOPPING the efforts there either.

I know i can keep going. I know it.

I never thought I could be disciplined enough to wake up at 430am before work and get a good workout in before the day starts. I wish I could say now I pop out of bed no problem every single day, not quite there yet but getting closer!

  48. September 6, 2010

I finished the Insanity Workout 60 day challenge… well, I will as on this coming Sunday. It seemed so far away, yet I’m here and I did every single day of it! This is a great giveaway!
