Self Magazine Workout in the Park Preview
I apologize for being MIA yesterday. I confess that I had one too many glasses of wine at dinner last night. I have to get back on track ASAP because my 1/2 marathon is this Sunday.
Other than drinking too much wine and eating too much cheese yesterday, I attended a preview of the upcoming Self Magazine’s Workout in the Park.
The preview was at Crunch Fitness. It was my first experience inside one of their gym and the staff was super sweet and helpful.

Once inside I checked out the different vendors that will be at the event. Did you know that Asics is sponsoring a “Rait Your Gate” tent. It was interesting to hear what they had to say about my gait in comparison to what I’ve been reading.

I also sampled an Urban Rebounding class. Which was fun until they had me doing a lasso while jumping in circles on a trampoline. At least it was better than my Boogie Box attempt. Running is easy because you only move in one direction.

Did I mention there’s a ton of swag at this event?

The event is on May 8th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. There are a variety of workouts available throughout the day and tons of products to sample. Considering it’s only $20, it’s a steal!
Hope to see you all there!
What’s the most fun or unique fitness class you ever taken?
The Husband got me a gift certificate for a trapeze class which will definitely be the most unique class I’ve been to when I finally get the nerve up to go.

If I lived in NYC I would definitely be there! Sounds like fun. I haven’t taken fitness classes in at least three years, but my favorite used to be cardio kick boxing! Not sure if that’s even offered as a class anymore or if it’s too old school
Gyms still offer cardio kickboxing. It never goes out of style!
this is random but i have taken trapeze before!! its so fun i wish i could do it again! looking foward to hering about your experience!
I can not wait for this event!!!!! it is going to be so much more fun =)
I hadn’t even heard of this, but I’ll have to check it out!
I did an urban rebounding class a few weeks ago at the NYSC in Harlem – fun and challenging. I kept expecting to fall off the trampoline. The most unusual class I’ve ever done, though, is forza (with wooden swords).
Doing a lasso while jumping in circles on a trampoline? That sounds like torture, not a workout! My most unique workout wasn’t a class but it was so fun. When I lived in New Zealand I did this thing called sandboarding which is basically a mix of surfing and snowboarding down huge sand dunes the size of ski mountains. Sand burns hurt, climbing back up the mountain was tough, but the whole experience was so fun.
I was thinking about going to this!
A trapeze class makes me think of that sex and the city episode!
Love all the swag you won!!
Best and most interesting class is probably HIIT!! Though I love cycling when it’s done in a dark room with great music and blacklights
lol
So jealous of you right now and wishing I lived in New York so I could attend, too!
That event sounds awesome, I love Self!! I wish I could go!
That sounds so cool! I would die to go!
It sounds like so much fun! I wanted to go to the one last year but never made it and this one is the day before my race so I might have to skip it again
I don’t want to be sore for race day!
i would have done ANYTHING to be at the very cirque du soleil looking yoga show
but i can do those poses that they were doing so i’d want to be up on stage! ha!
glad you saw the shout and the jillian info. She’s a balls out trainer but her comments are a little hmmmm ??!! that she made in the article. You should read it.
xo
Dang. I need to expand my horizons! The most exciting class I’ve been to is boot camp.
Note to self: Explore new workouts….STAT!
Joanna, YES you must try out a new type of workout. It’s fun even if it’s just a one time thing.
Ahhh yes, the too many glasses of wine nights. I’ve had some of those in my time. If I was in NYC I would definitely pay $20 for this event!! I love getting free stuff, and a nice workout. The use of the trampolines is very neat. I’m actually thinking about getting a small one for our new house! They are so versatile.
Have a great weekend!!
Ok, I cannot get over how goofy those trampoline classes look. I’m sure it’s a fine workout, but I’m not sure my ego could take it! I haven’t gone to a lot of exercise classes, although I did (accidentally) go to a “gentle yoga” class where a bunch of octogenarians and I made small and large arm circles for an hour. Hehe. It was kind of funny.
you always go to the coolest events! happy friday…..oh and don’t knock too much wine and cheese
Happy Friday!! Such a rad event, and awesome swag!
Trapeze class!?!?!? Great job husband on the gift!!! So excited for you to try that, I’m googling to see if there is anything like that in my area. It’d be soooo much fun!
I want to go to the self workout in the park, I think I’m going to get tickets! Is it just for women do you know?
Oooo thanks for the preview! It sounds really exciting. I’m not sure if I’ll be in the city that week, I might be home. But I’ll def. go if I’m here! I need some fun new classes to switch up my workout routine!
What an awesome event, wish I could go. We get the Nike Women’s Fitness Festival coming up here I’m looking forward to. The most unique class for me is probably trampoline aerobics, an hour of doing intense cardio in a court of trampoline squares.
LOVE your blog.
I was wondering how do you get invited to do all of these events? Sounds amazing & fun!
