I Dream in Red
I use to be intimidated.
I would hide out in the back hoping to go unnoticed.
I thought I was there due to some sort of mix up because I just didn’t belong with them.

The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke. But, when it didn’t happen the next time around I found myself disappointed.
Today, when I picked up my race bib I was elated to see that I had gotten invited back…

to the red corral.
Unlike my last invitation,

I embraced it. I jumped in with both feet and convinced myself that I do belong.

“Go hard or go home” was written all over my face as the gun went off, I ran my little heart out even though my legs felt heavy as I struggled to find my groove.
After huffing, puffing and using every mental trick in the book I finished the race in 29:17.

I left this race with a new goal: To finish fast enough to secure a red start in every race. Which means running a 4 mile race at a sub 7 pace.

Great job today pretty lady! Bo and I regretted not running when the weather was gorgeous but after this long week and our upcoming move it was probably the best choice. I think I may do a 4 mile time trial on the treadmill later instead.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT JOB!! Way to go on the race! Red is back!
Wow, congrats! And to think, my only goal is to get out of the frustrating brown (last) corral…
Tracey, that’s a fantastic goal!!!! You have to start somewhere, right?
Holy moly that’s fast!!
The color corrals remind me of the reading groups in kindergarden
You know, the fast readers (bluebirds) and the slower ones (owls)
Way to go!! I’d love to run in New York.
Wow great job! You’re so speedy!
I loved the set up of this post. It reminded me of the song “Dreaming in red” by the Calling. Great song

Yay!! Awesome job!! I know how important a coral can be, it feels good to have a “place” and have earned it.

It’s so cool (and inspiring) to hear how much your attitude towards running/racing has become! Especially because running is so much of a mental discipline. Way to go!!

Nice job! The color suits you. And you look so well put together for just finishing a race. I’m jealous.
That’s amazing! I wish you all the luck in getting the 4 miles sub 7′s! That’s a feat! But you can do it!!
That’s so awesome! Congrats!!! Go Red Shirt!!!
Nice JOB!! Congratulations to you for accomplishing your goal (that still counts as accomplishing your goal….right?! Only one minute off!!). You fit right in with the crowd, for sure. You should feel incredibly proud.
Wow! You are speedy! At first I thought it was a 5k you did in 29 minutes! 4 miles?! Great job! You earned your spot int he corral!
Woot Woo! You go girl!
Man, you’re so fast. Congrats!
Congrats! That’s fast!
Red is the new black
holy cow girl! that is fast! so jeolous….you should feel so proud
Congrats girl! You definitely look like you belong there!
You are hilarious! You need to run sub 7 to get in the red? I don’t think so. I haven’t run competitively in years but if I do a club race I get a red bib and I think it’s bc it picks up a 7:20 I ran like 2 yrs ago. Anyway, good for you. Gotta have goals!
