Rain, Rain
I’m feeling the running thing more than I have in years. While I’ve always been a “runner”, I haven’t always raced. I’ve ran just to run. Yes for some unexplained reason it completes me.
I think that reading blogs and coaching new runners has invigorated my own running. I’m not sure what my specific running goals are this year, but I know it’s gonna be a good year!
For some reason I felt the need to run outside in 40 degree rain and 25-35 mph winds.

Needless to say I got a little wet. My shoes felt like they each weighed 10 pounds. When I wasn’t running into the wind, I actually felt really good. I was scheduled to run 8, but just ran 6.
The park was quiet except for a few die hard runners. Perhaps I’m becoming one of them again.

you certainly sound die hard to me. the only time you’ll catch me running in the rain is making a mad dash from campus to my apartment, cursing the fact that i opted against rainboots and forgot my umbrella
good for you! I pledge to myself I will start running this month. But I’m a little nervous… I’m not very good: get winded, bright red, just. want. to. walk. I’m going to go for it anyways though. Any advice?
I have been dying to get outside to run, but the rain just is deterring me. I think I’ll end up one more weekend in the gym and then hopefully get outside this week!
Yes, running in 25-35 mph winds DOES make you hard core!!!!
I’m about to set out on a scheduled 7 miler…I will try and channel you because it is windy and damp here in the Chicago area.

I always thought of you as a die hard runner…I think you should start thinking of yourself that way too =)
Girl, that is badass! When I see people running in the rain I seriously want to scream “way to go!” out the window
Also– I gave you the creative blogger award in my Vacation post– check it out!
Thank you, Kenzie! I’m behind on blog reading this weekend.
Yes, you should in a way “just go for it”. However, you should have some sort of plan to get started with. Maybe running for 3-5 minutes and then walking for 5-10 minutes, then repeat for 3 rounds. I recommend a walk/run program for beginners. I also know that a lot of people have success with the couch to 5K program. Whatever you do take it easy. Initially you always want to feel good when you finish, like you could have kept on going. That sort of idea will help you avoid injury by doing too much too soon. Does that help?
Oh man, the only time I ran this weekend was from the car into places I needed to go. Even that was too much! Good for you for being a diehard!
Very diehard, I guess I’m too much of a wuss to run in the rain!
But it’s always freezing here when raining.
Yeah, running in the rain automatically makes you an all-star. Way to go!
