Lucky Duck

2010 February 17

In a wild twist of events, my meat loving husband requested to eat at Pure Food & Wine for his birthday dinner. I am one lucky duck!

This is a man that drags me kicking and screaming into stinky, disgusting Gray’s Papaya on a regular basis. So you can imagine how surprised I was when he asked to go to a raw vegan restaurant for his birthday.

Thankfully I am not a food blogger. I tried taking photos of our food, but they all turned out blurry. The food was amazing, but the desert stole the show!

We had the “Trio of Dark Chocolate Coated Indian Spiced Ice Cream Treats”. Which was a chocolate cardamom coconut ice cream cone, pistachio gelato ice cream sandwich, and chai tea creamsicle. It was quiet possibly the best desert ever!

See, I told you the pictures were blurry. And now I must put the birthday boy to bed, as we both have to be at work before sunrise.

Good Night!

I could never be a food blogger either…by the time I got my shot my food would either be cold or melted!

Looks like you had a happy meal! :-)

I am so jealous of you! I took my boyfriend to Pure and he HATED it. He is very meat-loving and already had his thoughts about the restaurant before he even went in. It didn’t even have a fighting chance. And the fact that he doesn’t eat nuts, was somewhat of a challenge when ordering his meal.

I really wanted dessert when we went, but he was itching to leave as soon as I was done my dinner! Maybe I’ll go back with a friend next time… or other bloggers :)

How wonderful! I wonder what brought that on? I would love to eat at that restaurant. The desserts look amazing-blurry or not.
    Have a good day!

Wow! I am impressed that your husband picked a raw food place for his birthday too- I don’t think that will ever happen with my fiance haha. Then again, I’m not really into raw food myself so I’d probably be lost about what to order. I will say though, raw desserts always look AMAZING.

Wow, I wish I could get my husband to go to a place like that. Or pick salad over steak. He’s a work in progress. What did you guys get for your main entrees?

Tracey, I’m not exactly sure what we had as the menu online isn’t the same as the menu we had. I had an a amazing mushroom dish, while the husband had some sort of “noodle” dish.

I took a look at the menu on their website. It looks super fancy. But WOW it’s expensive!

Blurry or not, that Dark Chocolate Trio sounds divine. I would loooooove to make a trip to NYC and dine at Pure Food & Wine on my birthday. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through you.
