Tra Tra Training
2010 February 2
After my 1/2 marathon, I decided to take a week off from running before jumping into a new training program. Since I’ve missed running days already this week, I’ll start training for the More | Fitness 1/2 Marathon next week.
- Mondays: Long run at comfortable pace
- Tuesdays: Tempo runs at a distance of 2 miles at 5k race pace
- Wednesdays: Spin or Bike Ride
- Thursdays: Yoga/Pilates/Strength/?
- Fridays: Off
- Saturdays: “track workout” probably won’t happen on a track, but will be on flat fast roads, pace should be about 30 seconds faster than 5K pace.
- Sundays: Off/Yoga/Pilates/Strength/?
My running goal for this year is to focus on speed. I’ve never trained like this and I have no idea how my legs will respond.
I’m strangely excited about this training plan. I’m just hoping the weather cooperates for the rest of the winter and I avoid getting another cold.

Great training plan, good luck with training.
I get strangely excited about new training plans, too. This looks well thought out and in line for your speed goals. Nice job, girl!
Another one?! Wow, I’m impressed. You are so motivated. Glad you like your new training plan, and new goal. We wish you luck!! And I’ll cross my fingers for good NYC weather.
Did you set up this training plan yourself? I’ve been thinking about setting up my own training plan (not to actually do a marathon, but to give some structure to my cardio routines) and I’m looking for good resources.
I am so proud of you! You go girl!
Looks like a great training plan! I’m actually in the midst of making one right now so this is helpful! Thanks!
Great training plan!! Hope the speed work goes well!
Samantha, I set this training plan up by myself, but after consulting a speedy runner that I know about doing speed work.
honey what do you think is a 5k race pace???? I need to know what I should be doing….thanks!!!! feel free to email me at namastemari720@yahoo.com
Mari- I’m emailing you now.
Sounds like a good plan, I ran my first ever tempo run and intervals this week, the tempo run was a killer! Felt good once I’d finished though hah
I love your training plan. I make myself and my clients all have a training plan. We set out our final goals (ie your 1/2 marathon) then our process goals (what we need to do to get there) and a schedule like this and it makes the process fun and achievable. Good for you and good luck in the training. I am new to the blog, and love it.
