To workout or not to workout?
I need to learn to take my own advice. I was really looking forward to riding the trainer today and listening to some great music while working up a sweat, but I’ve been side-lined by a fever.
Admittedly, the only reason I didn’t workout was because my husband strongly advised against it.
When someone walks into the gym and says “I’m not feeling well should I workout?” My immediate response is “Do you have a fever?” If they answer “yes” then I advise against working out.
It took reading a CNN article for me to stop arguing with my husband about my desire to sweat out my fever.
Hopefully, this fever goes away in time for my workout tomorrow. I have a brand new 12 week 1/2 marathon training plan that begins Monday.
I guess I’m not a warrior after all.

I always workout when I have a cold, however, NOT when I’m coughing. I hate it when people come to the gym and cough all over everything. When I have a fever, I wouldn’t ever think of working out, but it’s because I normally feel too weak. I’m glad your husband stopped you! And from reading that article, you better listen to him more often
Thanks for sharing the article, I’m going to print it for when people ask me that question! It’s a good reference.
You are still a warrior, don’t worry! Good for you for knowing that you should take a day off. I think some of us fitness-fanatics tend to freak out a little when we miss a workout (myself included), but I think knowing your body/limits is a good thing, and it makes you a warrior in a self-knowing kind of way!
FEEL BETTER honey!!!!!!!!!!!
I know what it’s like to have mother nature foil your workout plans but it’s totally better to just chill and get healthy
Suzanne has an “over the neck” rule…if she’s sick from the neck up she doesn’t work out.
I always tell people they have the rest of their life to work out….taking off a day or two will not kill ya! (Easier said than done, I know!)
Feel better, sweetheart!
Aw feel better girl! I have always used the over the neck, under the neck rule. But you are hardcore if you almost worked out with a fever…I am usually beat!
Even warriors get fevers. Get some rest.
Aww, I hope your sickness passes.
Maybe I’m a gym addict, but I feel guilty if I miss a workout, even when I’m sick. I always convince myself that working out will make me feel better. It almost never does.
Oh no! I hope you are feeling better today!
Ha…classic case of “do as I say, not as I do!”
Feel better lady!
