Goals

2010 January 16
by Jess

I was just about to get dressed for my run when I realized that Pacey was depleted of energy.  I guess I’ll blog while waiting for him to fuel up for our run.

Goals for this winter include:

#1.  My old goal of running longer than 6 miles outside. (Accomplished) My 1/2 marathon is next Sunday where I hope to set a WDPR (winter distance pr).  I will not be attempting a PR in terms of time.  I just hope I can pull my pace back in order to make it through the entire 13.1 miles.

#2.  A new goal is to learn how to do the grapevine.

If you follow me on twitter you already know that Booty Box was a fail.  During the warm-up portion of the class the instructor gave us directions for our first “dance” moves.  The instructions included this statement “if you can’t keep up with the move just do a grapevine.”  Step-touch wasn’t even an option!

Hmm… If I can’t keep up in the warm-up then there’s gonna be an issue with the next 55 minutes of class. And you thought I was kidding about not being able to grapevine.  ;)

Like any brave solider, I sat down in the back of the class to observe.  Luckily, my colleague had also taken to observing the class for another reason.

I did some glutes and abs 10 minute video on Exercise tv last night, and the “grapevine” was part of it, plus some other “stunts” I’m no good at, I felt like a fool! It wasn’t even supposed to be difficult, but I looked like an idiot. So, I’m right there with ya. I gotta practice.

As for oyur comment on my blog, I agree with you that this last Biggest Loser episode was one of the best. It made me happy that they focused on all of the BAD things that happen when you are overweight. At least they are using their popularity for SOME good things :)

Grapevine is tricky! But it is a staple in most aerobic classes! I just stand in the back and try to follow someone!

Boogie box fail!!! At least you tried, lots of people don’t have the guts to try anything out of their comfort zone.
