The Coldest Cold
2009 December 17
I talk a big game when it comes to running outside in the winter, but the truth of the matter is I hate being cold. I’m probably the first runner in NYC to sport pants and long-sleeved shirts. Tomorrow morning the temp is supposed to be 17 degrees without the wind chill. Right now its 22 degrees with a wind chill of 8.
Here’s what I’ll be wearing tomorrow morning:

1st Layer:
Hot Chilly’s Long Underwear (that I bought for skiing 4 years ago)
Un-pictured glove liners
2nd Layer:
Trail Head’s Ponytail Hat (which is ugly, but warm)
Bonus Layer:
There may be a game time decision to add in hand warmers.
This will actually be my first season wearing the craft jacket. In the past I’ve stuck with a running jacket, thermal top and sleeve-less base layer. I’m hoping this jacket will allow me to stick with two layers on top.
Wow, I just realized its after 11:00 p.m.. If I’m actually going to make it out the door to meet SJT at 6 am, I better go to sleep. Good Night!
P.S. I did not pay full price for any thing other than the hat and gloves. Always buy your running gear on sale, never pay full price!

You are a girl after my own heart! Not only am I obsessed with staying warm and comfortable but I’m dressed in pink and black 90% of the time when it comes to workout attire!
you are my hero . . . I refuse to brave the cold I’ll be on the treadmill
Brrrrr! Looks like you have a good plan to stay warm…and the faster you run the faster you will be done!!!

brrr !
but your clothes are adorable!
I can’t imagine running in the cold. Good luck!
You are one committed runner! I think I’ve turned in my sneakers (at least my outdoor ones) for the season! It’s SO cold in NYC I almost froze my face off in my coat and scarf and hat yesterday!
Love the clothes though. I will have to check some of that out in case I get brave enough to run outside in the near future
Wow…that is a lot of clothes, even for those cold temps. The most I ever have on the bottom is an old pair of Pearl Izumi tights with light fleece inside. I only have to pull them out once or twice a year (SO HOT) but they got me through a -15 WC day before along with my other gear.
I know, its a ridiculous amount of clothing. I could totally wear this same combo for a 5 degree run, but I’m the south and I’m cold all the time.
I am such a baby about going out to exercise in the cold. Props to you!
You are a trooper! I think I would feel too restricted with all those layers on. But I may need to dress like that next week when I’m in Boston!
Chickie it was COLD this morning! I admire your dedication
Love the winter gear! I hope you had a good run this morning, and the gear worked well! I can only imagine how cold it is in NYC…yikes.
This post was so helpful! I’m from Boston and I feel like I’m always cold! Usually I just stay inside on the treadmill when it gets cold, but this winter I’m training for a marathon so running outside in the cold is unavoidable. I having trouble figuring out what to wear! If you have any advice on things to buy for cold running or places to buy them, let me know! I could use all the help I can get!
And my butt is complaining about 40-50 degree weather while running…I’ll shut my mouth now. 17 is freaking cold…good luck girl. I know you can do it.
How cute will you look!!! I just want to get better at running just to wear these cute outfits
Stay warm sista! I love that pink top!
