Good Riddance!

2009 December 30
by Jess

When I heard about Good Riddance Day, I knew I had to march right over to Times Square and shred some of the bad things about 2009.

When I saw this mess, I knew that Good Riddance Day was going to happen on my own time.

While I realize the blog is public, I just didn’t want my face on National TV saying goodbye to the things I want to leave behind.

Instead, tonight was my own personal Good Riddance Day. I really love the symbolism in the act of shredding the things that held be back in 2009.

And now I feel ready to move forward into the year 2010 with more hope and optimism than ever before.

What do you need to discard from 2009 to make 2010 an even better year?

What a great idea! Something about physically destroying those words seems like it would be very therapeutic!

I actually have many of the same things I’d like to say good riddance to…. self doubt, fear of failure, negative thoughts, worry, etc. I want positive things, therefore I must ooze positive energy!

I love this idea! I want to discard my late night snacking. With Nick around, it’s out of control! I will no tlonger let his late night snacking have an effect on ME! YEAH!

And like you, negative thoughts and negative people are not something I want in 2010. I agree with you on that one. I’ve been doing well on the negative thought front, but I can always do better.

I really just got emotional reading this post…I’m planning on writing my list now and burning it in the fireplace. 2009 has been hands down the worst year of my life…but I WANT to let it go and move on to 2010 but was having a hard time. Thanks for this idea…and a little emotional release!
    Happy New Year!!

I love the idea of writing it down and then shredding it. Very significant.

I also just saw you got a 405! JEALOUS! At least that’s one thing that definitely is not showing up on any Good Riddance list!
