Finally Snow!

I am one happy girl! There is snow on the ground and there’s more to come! We decided to play tourist for an hour tonight after the snow began.

My crazy factor wasn’t nearly as high as it was a few weeks ago. I ran 5 miles this morning with SJT before the snow began. Today was suppose to be a long run day. However, if I ran 9 miles today I wouldn’t be able to run in the snow tomorrow morning. I never run more than 2 consecutive days and tomorrow will be a third day in a row. My body, just can’t take running everyday.

The temperature was 27 (windchill 12) with cloudy skies. I know figuring out what to wear for outdoor runs can be complicated, so after all the responses and questions I’ve gotten about what to wear I’m going to start posting different winter weather combos that work for me.

Keep in mind I’m a southern girl who’s lived in NYC for 9 years, so I tend to dress slightly warmer than the average person living in the north east.

Today’s ensemble:

  1. Smart wool running socks (purchased for an amazing price from steepandcheap)
  2. Same pants, gloves and hat I wore yesterday (probably would have worn tights but they were smelly).
  3. Nike Thermal Mock Neck
  4. Brooks Running Jacket (can’t find it online its sorta old)

The only thing I would do different in these conditions is wear my glove liners in addition to these gloves.

I cannot wait to run in the snow tomorrow morning! I hope your weekend is going as good as mine.

*I’m working on a post about where to shop for and how to find inexpensive winter running gear.

I like the idea of inexpensive running wear. Even though I don’t run, I could still wear some of this clothing when I do my speed walking outside :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures of NYC holidays! They put a huge smile on my face.

Yikes! Good luck running in the snow! It’s crazy out there. I could barely walk home yesterday without falling over!

Beautiful pics!! What a lovely day….I haven’t been out running in the snow yet, but seeing as it is almost January in Illinois it is inevitable!

    Have a great run!
