Sugar, Sugar
Thank you for all the help today! Too bad its not a spin-a-thon, cause we could spin all day with the songs you guys gave me! I’ll begin putting the play-list together tonight and will post it later in the week.
I got the opportunity to wear these this morning.
Yes, those would be knee warmers. It was a mere 56 degrees when I headed out to meet Stacey at 5:30 a.m. I also was still wearing them in July. Not normal and not acceptable. It should be possible to be knee warmer free for at least three months out of the year.
Did you see this?
Check out the NY Times article regarding this campaign that will be featured in NYC subways.
Do you think this is an effective campaign for motivating change? Personally, I think it may be so extreme that people will just ignore it. Its kinda like telling a meat eater that their stomach is a graveyard in an attempt to convert them into a vegetarian.

Interesting ad – not sure if it will be effective or not. But, it will definitely get people talking about it, which is really the goal of any press…good or bad…at least they’ll be talking…ya know?
Interesting. I am very much into marketing, and for some reason I think this add may be somewhat effective. Do you know why? Because it uses the word “fat”. Women, and men (maybe less), will look at that add and see the word “fat” and start associating it with soda. I don’t know that I like the picture, but the words are powerful. Thanks for sharing this. I really love knowing what’s going on in other states as far as marketing/campaigns.
Ok first, let me say that it was freezing in upstate NY yesterday morning too and I LOVE your knee warmers. Second, I have mixed feelings about that ad. While I do think sugary foods/drinks are bad and people should cut down on them, I don’t like that the ad says ‘Don’t Drink Yourself Fat’. I think they could have phrased it differently. Some people are overweight for medical reasons and don’t necessarily choose to be that way. I think it’s a little harsh. I also don’t think it’s fair for soda to be taxed. I understand smokers being taxed because smoking affects everyone around you, but I don’t see why it’s anyone else’s problem if you want to eat junk food. It’s a personal choice!
I haven’t seen that before but I’m gonna say I like it. Maybe older generations will be turned off by it or completely ignore it, but I think the younger generations will look at soda differently. I use to drink soda to excess and I honestly believed that because it was “fat free” I could drink as much as I liked. Cutting soda out of my life was on of the best things I ever did. If this add opens one person’s eyes then I say it was worth it.
I don’t know, the campagn doesn’t bother me too much but then I don’t drink soda really.
I actually really like the ad but I think the only people that will pay attention are the ones that are already making healthier choices. I don’t think someone who LOVES soda is going to have a “ah-ha” moment because of these ads IMO.
