Peaceful Easy Feeling

Yesterday was an A+ day!  My alarm went of at 6 a.m and I quickly turned it off to snooze for two more hours.  When I finally peeled myself out of bed it was time for a little running tour of the lower half of the island.

I love this route.  Its peaceful and scenic.  I complain about living in this city quite often, but yesterday was  a reminder of how lucky I am to live here.   It was the first time in a while I was able to tune out and tune in during a run.  I came home dehydrated and high (a runners high that is).

massage

Last night I was fortunate enough to get a much needed massage.  This kind of thing isn’t normally in my budget, but a sweet colleague gave me a special deal when she learned of my constant headaches.  Boy, did I feel like Miss Fancy Pants having a massage therapist come to my house.  She was amazing!  My headache disappeared and I woke up this morning without a sore muscle in my body.

My day was full of zen like activities that created the perfect formula for slowing down the constant rat race in my mind.

What allows you to zone out and tune in?

A run and a massage, I can imagine that is pretty sweet. Although I am not a fan of massages, I’d rather chill out in a hot tub or something.

I’ve never had a message, other than the ones Nick gives me. Today I ran outside for the first time in quite a while, during that time I was experiencing a high of my own (runners high, like you) and it was so nice, with perfect, zero humidity weather. I am already sore, so Nick better be ready to please me when he gets home! As in, give me a message :)

Aren’t massages the best? I get them as often as possible – definitely my most favorite splurge!!!

I’m glad the massage helped with your headaches! I have only had a few massages in my life and was never a big fan, but the last one I had “sold” me. I was able to relax and all my little aches went away…

I like to sit in my rocking chair next to the open window to relax… (Yes, I realize that makes me sound about a hundred years old…But it brings back happy memories as I used to nurse the toddler in it…).

I’ve watched enough episodes of Sex in the City that I think living in the city seems amazingly cool. When you run on the city roads, do you run on the sidewalks or on the street? Or maybe a combo of both? I live in suburbia and when I run in the city or even in the busier areas of the town, I’m both the sidewalk and street – but maybe NYC is different with buses whizzing by and a lot more traffic?

Its a mix of sidewalk and street, but mostly sidewalks. Dodging tourists in certain areas is the biggest challenge.

I am jealous of your massage – I think that should be a monthly investment!!

P.S. Will she come to my house in Kentucky since I don’t have a babysitter? :)
