I Sweat, Therefore I Stink (the gross smelly truth)

2009 August 22

I’m busy doing some funk busting. Smelling bad is part of my life.

Behold, a weeks worth of running clothes (does not include other workout clothes)

Sorry for being so gross! But, stink happens. My workout clothes reek especially the ones that have been living in my laundry basket since Monday. I have a friend who jumps into the shower post workout with her clothes on, but I’m just not into it. I’ve also heard of people who immediately rinse out their stinky gear in the sink post workout, but I’m too lazy. Plus, the stopper in our sink doesn’t really work.

My secret weapon:

I combine one scoop of Oxi Clean with one small serving of WIN. I then let them soak in the wash for 10 minutes. Hang to dry. It has dramatically increased the shelf life of my running clothes.

Other than doing chores and running today, I also bought a pair of new running shoes. Because I’m so bad @$$ I plan to break all the rules and wear them on my long run tomorrow. Hopefully, I won’t come back here tomorrow crying about blisters.

I almost forgot to tell you that I haven’t completed my test as promised earlier in the week. I can’t seem to calibrate my Nike Sport Band.  Hope you’re having a great Sunday! I have to get back to my chores now and get ready for a wine tasting party.

You are my stank savior!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of the smelly running stink. I’m definitely going to try this ASAP. Are those Asics? They are so pretty.

Have a great wine tasting party!

I’ve got a mountain of running laundry to myself. Thanks sharing the tip. Good luck with new shoes on the long run tomorrow. I go badass with new sneaks too – the risks runners take!

I have to say, this is one of the worst parts of living in NYC and not having a washer and dryer. My workout clothes sit in my bedroom (I share a closet with one of my roommates and it seems mean to smell up her space, too!) and can sometimes smell awful for a week or so. If only I had a washer and dryer or the time to go to the laundry mat every day or the money to send my clothes and towels out every day (HAHA on those last 2!).

Ha, well at least you’re honest ;) I’m going to my first Bikram Yoga class tomorrow morning… and joining the stinky laundry club soon after. Hope you like the new kicks!

Cuuute new shoes! I can’t believe you have a friend who jumps in the shower with her clothes on after a workout – sounds intense and extreme! I’m with you…let ‘em stink! The smell will come out eventually :)

Don’t you call me cryin’ when your feet hurt after your run…you might need to think twice about that one ;)

Thanks for your de-stinking laundry tips! I have no idea if it works on smelly running clothes but I would guess it does (as a mom, I do no less than 2 loads of laundry daily, sometimes more so I dont get the pile up phenomenon) but Bio-Kleen Bac-Out (available at health food stores) works GREAT on getting human waste smells out of cloth diapers, getting pet stains outta carpet, you name it, squirt an ounce or two and really horrible smells and stains….gone. And it smells like Limes. And it’s a natural product. That works. Just my tip :)
