I love push-ups.

Heart

Clients hate push-ups.

What’s the deal with all the push-up hate?  It may be my all time favorite exercise.  There is not one reason to hate a push-up, not one!  It does so much for you.  How could one ever detest it?

Maybe the push-up could use a little publicity or an advertisement:

Ladies would you like a strong, sleek, sexy body?   Would you like an exercise that can be done at anytime and anywhere?  This free exercise promises that you will see a difference in your stomach, back, shoulders, chest and triceps in less than 1 hour per week.  If you act now this exercise is yours for $9.99 free!

Doing push-ups at home after teaching class tonight.

While we’re discussing push-ups…why do fitness tests determine a woman’s upper body strength by having us do the modified version?   It’s an insult.  The only reason some women have a hard time with regular push-ups is because they simply don’t really know how to do them or they just think they aren’t capable.

Now, I’m curious to see how many modified push-ups I can do compared to regular ones. hmm….  I bet the ration is 3:1.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  Before you get run off to do your own set of push-ups, check out these variations I found on Wikipedia (although they call them press ups).

Do you hate or love push-ups and what’s your favorite variation?

Pushups are AMAZING!!!! Arms tone up so quickly and my clients love coming back to me with results!! I like to teach them on the knees for first times and move on up to the toes. But my fav one for the guys is the traveling pushups. One in the middle shift arms to the side, shift back to the middle and then shift arms to the other side. Its HARDCORE!!!!

I love push ups too! I <3 body weight exercises, I've definitely noticed a difference in my arms and core when I added push ups into my routine. I do them on my toes but also do traveling push ups a la 30 day shred!

I LOVE push-ups!!!! Pull-ups though, are another story, I can do three at most. I love to do push-ups against the arm of our big chair in the living room. So I guess I’m sort of up in the air, rather than being completely parallel with the floor. I love that variation.

I love the results pushups give…but I’m not very good at them! I always feel like my form is all wrong and I’m doing a bad job!

I don’t like them much… but I think I just need to practice and do them more. They’re tough!

I can’t say I love push-ups but I do accept their benefits. I need to put in much more practice on them though…. much, much more!!

I enjoy push-ups. I incorporate them weekly into my chest, shoulder, tri workout. For awhile, I was also participating in the OneHundredPushup challenge. Haven’t quit finished it, but was enjoying it. I do several different variations: regular, decline w/feet on bench, and my most challenging and turning into my favorite are decline push-ups w/feet on stability ball. Forces you to use your whole body! Another challenging push-up movement is the crocodile walks/crawl (I think that’s what they are called).
